I used to think of the voice as “crazy”. I don’t think that any more, except in a very warm and friendly sort of way. I never know when I’m going to hear it, but when I do, it’s usually something very clear, short, direct, and undeniable.

But She’s Not There
It was early morning, and I was sitting zazen, facing the wall. I heard my husband stir, waken, and go through his morning routine; the familiar sounds of making coffee and padding off to his office.
Time Has Come Today (Hey)
I didn’t get contact lenses until college. Up until then, with my thick glasses, everyone thought I was older than I was. When I started working at Larry’s, I was only 21 or 22…old enough, but they were suprised to find I was so young.
Dancing Barefoot
Today I quit work early, and found myself at the coast, enjoying the cool of the fog, and some time to reflect. Everything gets weathered clean where the land and sea meet.

But my work load will be lightened, since I don’t have to care for goats in pens any longer. Time to start paying some attention to my own garden and outside area, which has once again become a shambles, neglected because of winter and kidding season.

First Cheese of the Year
Yesterday morning, P came into the barn while I was milking, and as I was cleaning up we chatted. I knew she’d just made her first batch of cheese for the year.
